New York Times color theory grids, process.
Above: MCAD student’s SunJoo’s work in progress. In this application of
our semester long focus on color, we developed grids from single New York
Times pages with pencil and tracing paper. Some of these have marvelous
architectural qualities in themselves. The students then transfer the plan
to the newsprint and begin applying a color ‘machine,’ beginning with the
three primaries. These are works in progress, and follow on the heels of
last year’s experiments. Those students would surely agree, these are
extremely promising!
