Sounds! Chip Kidd interview…

batmangaatcomiccon

Above: Via Wired Online, Scott Thill interviews Chip Kidd (above from his website) on his new ‘lost’ Japanese Batman book. Equally interesting, Thill reveals Kidd’s musical side project, Artbreak. Thill quotes Kidd’s collaborator Mars Trillion describing their sound, “Bowie crashing The Cars into Joy Division going 300 mph at 4 a.m.
on Abbey Road.” Vow.

Above: Going way back, here is a MPLS Batman for the mix (Kapow!), unidentified artist, spotted on an NYTimes box on Nicolette Ave. My former colleague Terry Beatty, who is Batman too, enjoyed the slightly stubbly and effeminate look of this version.
