Typonauts Unite

Final presentation three-sixty.

Above and below: Final presentation of only three wee projects from a group of sixteen young type initiates (mostly non-graphic design majors?!). All have taken the Oath of Poverty associated with our common mantra, let go and let type. Ahoy!

Click on the images to view them at a slightly larger size. More details to come, as well as results from two other classes, equally varied and engaged. Many thanks again to the group for your best efforts. Und jetzt, to the moon!

Above: Liam, Arsenal supporter. Avanti, you Gunners!

In the beginning, there was type, form, and counterform! The sketches above (each unit scalable to poster size), were developed with old Letraset donated by our MCAD mentor Barbara Schulz. We developed several different raw approaches before truly engaging with type, which included a trip to a local letterpress studio at the MCBA.

Above: Some mini-process details from mid-semester con mysterious shadow? Penciled-in versions of favorite letterforms as they were being developed.
(See the final Fontruct versions here.)

Note: The final work you see below are examples of a poster for their own Fontruct fonts, as well a a group problem around the despised FOREX text (oh beloved limitation, lead us to freedom!), plus a few other tasty cakes.

Les étudiants, je vous remercie!
