Say it ain’t so, Joe.
Above: Plumbing tools. Joe the Plumber, a shooting star thanks to yesterday’s impromptu debate with Obama before the real deal with McCain. His real name is:
Guess what? He is not a plumber (New York Times). “An official at Local 50 of the plumber’s union, based in Toledo, said Mr. Wurzelbacher does not hold a license.
He also has never served an apprenticeship and does not belong to the union.”
It gets better, this via Crooks and Liars, but originating with a conservative blogger, Martin Eisenstadt. Joe W. is related to Charles Keating of, yes, McCain’s Keating Five Scandal. Though he denies any contact with the campaign, his interview with Katie Couric was laced with GOP talking points. Worst of all, he said:
“You know, I’ve always wanted to ask one of these guys a question and really corner them and get them to answer a question of–for once instead of tap dancing around it. And unfortunately I asked the question but I still got a tap dance. Do you – almost as good as Sammy Davis Jr.”
The Daily Kos has more, his denials about having spoken with the McCain Campaign are under scrutiny, it appears they say they did not, but tried to call him during the debate as it became clear he would become the center of a huge story. How did they happen to have his number?
This will get better. Remember the fake reporter Bush had planted in the White House press corps?
