Occupy: What’s next? A call for posters.
International juried poster competition seeks to address the 100%.
Above: From the Next by Design splash page, organizers Jean-Benoît Lévy, Erik Adigard, and David Peters issue their call for posters for Occupy: What’s Next? This international juried competition paints it’s objectives and concerns very broadly, and will feature a novel ‘open source’ jurying format that seeks maximum transparency. The organizers have assembled a jury that reflects the international nature of this call, including Pascal Colrat, Jochen Fiedler, April Greiman, Morteza Majidi, Gunter Rambow, Elizabeth Resnick, Dr. Bettina Richter, David Tartakover, Jeanne Verdoux, Rene Wanner, Dr. Sylke Wunderlich, and myself.
The organizers outline three central concerns they believe are at the forefront of today’s social and political landscape. They seek posters that will “express the concerns” of the so-called 99%, but also propose solutions to these problems and seek dialogue with the 1%. The organizers thus seek entries that will both engage and challenge, with the hopes of creating dialogue beyond vilification and isolation.
Schedule and guidelines are available and, while many details are still in flux, the entry deadline is midnight May 31, 2012 (PST).
Three exhibition opportunities have been tentatively identified (Chaumont, Leipzig, and San Fransisco), and the organizers invite partners and potential exhibitors to join their effort. For more information, please visit Next by Design.
