Image as Object, Object as Image.

Above: Sonnenzimmer poster, seven colors, 18×24 (2012). With the release of this poster on their website, it’s exciting to finally be able to share this upcoming exhibition at MCAD, opening on January 25, 2013. Officially titled, Image as Object, Object as Image: Graphic Abstraction by Sonnenzimmer, it has been intensely gratifying to work with Sonnenzimmer and MCAD Gallery Director Kerry Morgan to bring this stunning work to Minneapolis.

Nadine Nakanishi and Nick Butcher will be lecturing at 7PM that evening on our campus, an event which, as always, is free an open to the public. In their own words, the exhibit, “focuses on the the cross section of our fine and commercial art. Displaying over 30 paintings, two quilts, a sound installation, and a selection of our process oriented commercial projects and self-published works, the show is the closest thing we’ve come to a Sonnenzimmer retrospective. Though the show is extremely image heavy, we are attempting to create a quiet, yet active atmosphere.

Sonnenzimmer January 18 – March 3, 2013
Reception: Friday, January 25, 6 to 9 p.m.
Public Artist Talk: Friday, January 25, 7 p.m.
MCAD, Auditorium 150
