UPDATE: Typografika / Eyeo Festival
New printed matter for this upcoming conference.
Above: Erik Brandt, 2011. 9″x12″ program cover. I am really excited to share this initial piece I recently designed for Dave Schroeder (Pilotvibe), founder and organizer of the upcoming Eyeo Festival here in Minneapolis. The festival is bringing together some of the most creative coders, designers, and artists working today. I pitched this combination magazine/poster folding technique and was delighted with the freedom and trust Dave showed through the entire process. The Eyeo logo was designed by the intrepid Nate and Katie of EightHourDay. Hope you enjoy, see updates below.

Individual rooms in the center were isolated by their counterform and given a color to help physical navigation both in the program and at the conference. I also took photographs of some of the relevant locations, and isolated those to provide both landmark recognition and pleasant surprises.

Above: Erik Brandt, 2011. Speaker badges. I ‘hacked’ a solution to bringing some extra attention to the Speaker/Sponsor badges on Dave’s urging. We used his ink-jet to overprint pink circles.
Above: Erik Brandt, 2011. A speaker badge with the inside map. The colored squares and rectangles are dispersed from their arrangement on the formal schedule on the reverse side (see below). A wee metaphor for time away from the actual conference.

Above: Erik Brandt, 2011. A final assembly. This was a great typographic problem, given the wide variety of names and their length.
