Walker Art Center, MPLS
Above: Opolis, 2007. As mentioned previously, we are grateful and excited to be
participating in this Saturday’s Multiples Mall: A Bookish Fair at the Walker Art
Center (Jan. 29, 2009) We are especially excited and humbled to meet the other
artists and see their work.
We will have fifty copies of Opolis on display (and for sale) as well as 25 copies
of a_city_a_cloud, a poem/painting/poster collaboration we did with Barbara
Campbell Thomas in 2006.
Above: Opolis, 2006, sample spread from the pink version (all were printed with
a standard green from Al Sharq in Doha, Qatar). See a review of Opolis by
Isola di Rifiuti’s John Latta as well as more Opolis at tÿpøgrafika.
Above: a_city_a_cloud, 2006 (click image for a larger view). The poster (also printed
by Al Sharq in Doha, Qatar) measures 25.5 inches by 33 inches. Odd size to be sure,
the project had a PDF component so we guessed that most would be printing at
US Letter size, hence the final 8.5×11 inch individual unit and folded dimensions.
Above: a_city_a_cloud, 2006 (detail) Before you shout, Widow!, Orphan!, Sacrilige!, remember the poet’s prerogative. I felt that my role in this collaboration was to step back as much as possible. Of course I am biased, but this is a beautiful poem and aside from that, as I am fond of saying, let go, and let type.
Again, feel free to download a PDF version, which is still available online via Susana Gardner’s Dusie collective, as are the 2006 chapbook project original participants. We hope to see you at the Walker on Saturday.
