Aktuell / From Jerrold Maddox

Penn State Professor of Art, photographer, web designer

I’ll be featuring Professor Maddox in an interview soon, but I wanted to pass on his insight in the form of two critical articles he highly recommends. One, on the rise of cell phone novels in Japan, and the other, on internet users in China overtaking those in the United States, both a offer a glimpse of the contemporary world and the very near visual future.

Above: From the NYTimes, cell phone novels grow dominant. Sorry, I knew that ebook thing Amazon released was already outdated. Just look at it. They weren’t impressed with the iPhone in Asia either. Is the East more technologically savvy than the West? At a consumer level? If so, and if the market does find itself again, it may be in these “new” markets more than ever.

My thanks to Professor Maddox for these, have a look at his work here.
